FAQ

How do you set your prices/targets?

Since all bottles are purchased through our private foundation, all taxes, and in some cases shipping, is included. Since many bottles are allocated, we have also potentially paid a secondary market price to acquire these bottles.

What are your goals?

We have two primary goals. Our first goal is to raise money for worthy charities such as the Kansas Humane Society. Our second goal is to help get hard to find bottles into the hands of our local community. After all, our founder has been chasing Dark Spirits since the 1980’s.

Will you accept donated bottles?

Absolutely, if state law allows for this. We are not attorneys, nor do we employ a legal team. As we all know, Kansas has some peculiar laws that might prohibit certain companies from making donations.

How much can I write off for my donated bottles?

This is up to you and your accountant, but fair secondary market is likely on the table.

How much of my donated bottle goes to charity?

For all donated bottles, 100% of the purchase price (minus what we must pay to our credit card processing company ~ 3%) goes to the charity designated.

How do I get a receipt for my accountant?

You will be emailed a receipt with our foundation name and number for your records.

Can I write off my lottery ticket or winning auction purchases?

The short answer is yes! We are a non-profit foundation and meet all the requirements to accept tax deductible donations. Please consult with your accountant if you have further questions.

How do you get these bottles?

Basically – hard work and long hours of scouring the nations liquor stores. What cannot be dismissed are the generous liquor store owners who also share a passion for dark spirits and wish to give back to their communities.

Why the Kansas Humane Society?

The founder of Dark Spirits is an Emergency and Critical Care veterinarian who has devoted his professional career to helping pets and wants to continue to provide for our beloved companions through his hobby.

“I'm suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn't like a person.”
